The South African History Archive is committed to making its archival materials intellectually and physically accessible for public exhibition and display, both nationally and internationally.
Items from SAHA collections, including the SAHA Poster Collection (AL 2446) may be borrowed by museums, galleries, heritage venues and other non-profit organizations for inclusion in exhibitions. Please consult SAHA’s guidelines for exhibition loans to find out more about requesting the loan of posters and other archival items for exhibition.
SAHA recognizes that community-based and educational organizations may find it difficult to meet the formal requirements for security and preservation of rare and fragile objects generally required of borrowers in standard loan agreements for heritage objects. To fulfill our key aim of bringing South African history out of the archives and into South African communities that would not ordinarily access archives, SAHA is developing a range of exhibition kits specifically designed to enable organizations to mount low-cost exhibitions focusing on key moments and issues in South African history.
