Collection of the Month: The Forced Migration Studies Programme on Xenophobic Violence Collection (AL3286)

Given the observance of the International Day for Tolerance on 16 November 2016, especially with humanitarian crises emanating from the politics of xenophobic violence and migration policing which has engulfed a significant part of the globe, it seems fitting that the collection of the month should focus on the Forced Migration Studies Programme on Xenophobic Violence collection (AL3286). This collection consists of edited transcripts of oral history interviews that were collected by the Forced Migration Studies Programme from victims of xenophobic violence in May 2008. Offered as a post-graduate programme on the study of human mobility and social transformation at African Centre for Migration and Society (ACMS) at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), the interviews were conducted by students. The collection also includes some consent forms from interviewees as well as project documentation.
