PAIA Resource Kit
The PAIA Resource Kit is an innovative tool that was developed during the Pilot phase of the Freedom of Information Project: Capacity building in the Community based Sector (PAIA). It is a tool that can be used by anyone wishing to submit a request for information from a public or private body in South Africa in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA); or by anyone wishing to learn more about this important Act.

The PAIA Resource Kit was made possible through funding from the Ford Foundation.
The PAIA Forms
PAIA Forms can be downloaded by selecting from the following:
> Download Form A - request to access information from a public body.
> Download Form C - request to access information from a private body.
> Download Form B - notice of internal appeal.
An internal appeal process can be followed against a public body if you disagree with the response to your request (remembering that even if there is no response, it is deemed to be a refusal), or if you are contesting a decision made in regard to fees, an extension or the form of access granted.
Special provisions are made for requesters with a disability:
(i) The requester may make the request orally if they are unable to submit the request by letter, fax or email; and (ii) The Information Officer/Deputy Information Officer of a public body must, if requested, take reasonable steps to make the record available in a form that can be viewed, read or heard by the requester.
