This poster is an offset litho in black and red, produced for the United Democratic Front (UDF) by the Screen Training Project (STP), Johannesburg. This poster refers to the massacres in Sharpeville and Uitenhage which both took place on 21 March, although 25 years apart. The text reads: “REMEMBER ... SHARPEVILLE REMEMBER ... UITENHAGE MARCH 21 1960 1985 REMEMBER ... THE SHARPEVILLE SIX THEY WILL NOT HANG : FORWARD TO PEOPLES' POWER!” on page 147 (number 267) of the 1991 SAHA / Ravan Press edition and the 2004 SAHA / STE Publishers edition. It also appears on page 148 of “Red on Black: The Story of the South African Poster Movement”, SAHA / STE Publishers, 2007. |
