Right2Know Campaign to host 'Raise Your Voice! Stop the Secrecy Bill!' Rally and March

This Saturday, 13 August 2011, the Right2Know campaign will host a rally and march against the Protection of Information Bill in Johannesburg.

The Right2Know campaign, of which SAHA is an active member, has been opposing the Protection of Information Bill, commonly known as the Secrecy Bill, since its introduction over a year ago. During the month of August, the ad hoc committee responsible for considering the Bill is sitting extensively, making the possibility of the Bill's passage seem ever more likely.

The Right2Know campaign is therefore calling on all organisations and individuals opposed to the Secrecy Bill to raise their collective voices by joining the rally and march.

Date: Saturday 13 August 2011
Time: 10:30 for 11:00
Venue: Great Hall, University of Witwatersrand, East Campus (march will then proceed to Constitutional Hill)

Key speakers at the event will be Ronnie Kasrils (Former Minister of Intelligence), Nadine Gordimer (Nobel Prize winning writer), Sidumo Dlamini (President of COSATU), Nic Dawes (Editor, Mail & Guardian) and Professor Franz Kruger (Head, Wits Radio School).
